Police Investigating Alleged Hold Up at Dairy Queen
The incident was reported to Beverly Police on Friday afternoon.

An alleged hold up at Dairy Queen on Friday, Sept. 21 is under investigation by the Beverly Police Department.
Police spokesman Dave Costa said a white male, about 25-years-old, described as having short brown hair, slim build, and wearing a “US Army” zip-up hooded sweatshirt and jeans, passed a note to a Dairy Queen employee to give him all the money around 4:47 p.m. on Friday.
At that point, Costa said a customer walked in and interrupted the robbery and the employee told the customer to call police. The suspect then reportedly took the hood off his head and stated he was only kidding and that another Dairy Queen employee had put him up to this.

Costa said the suspect then walked out the door and down Cabot Street towards Balch Playground.
"The employee hesitated and waited approximately 15 minutes before calling the police because he wasn’t sure if it was actually a joke or not," Costa said. "The customer who had come in and interrupted the robbery apparently left and didn’t call the police."

Officers searched the area but found no one fitting the description. The employee who was named by the suspect claimed to have no involvement in the robbery and could not think of any acquaintances who fit the description of the suspect.
No weapons were shown or mentioned, police said.
The incident is still under investigation.
