Regional Search For Missing Dog Comes To Sad Ending In Beverly

Beverly, Marblehead, Peabody and Salem ACOs aided in the search for Brewer, who got loose when his owner fell on Rantoul Street last week.

BEVERLY, MA — Animal control officers from four North Shore communities combined with the Beverly Animal Hospital, the Beverly Harbormaster, Missing Dogs Massachusetts and dozens of concerned residents to search for more than a week for a pitbull/shepherd mix that got away when his owner slipped on ice on Rantoul Street last Monday.

Beverly Animal Control said the family of Brewer was grateful for all the help and support looking for him around the North Shore, but revealed to those who may be still on the lookout on Friday that the dog was found deceased earlier this week.

"This notification is a delayed release and further details are not being released out of respect to allow the family privacy to grieve his loss," Beverly Animal Control said. "His family wishes to thank the amazing community who showed up like no other to help bring him home. He was loved by so many. Our thoughts, prayers and sincerest condolences are with the family during this time."
