Richard Wylie, Endicott College President, Dies At 77

The influential longtime president died after health issues.

BEVERLY MA — Dr. Richard E. Wylie, the influential longtime president of Endicott College, died Saturday. He was 77. The Boston Globe reported he died after health issues.

Wylie is "widely credited with spearheading the College's transition from a small, two-year school for women to a coeducational institution with national and international reach offering undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees," according to a release by the college.

Wylie was born in Newton in 1941. He was active in several North Shore community efforts and organizations, including Beverly Bank, North Shore Innoventures, Beverly School for Communication Disorders and the Deaf, and Beverly Main Streets. He was a long-time Rotarian in Beverly, the release said.
