Rock legend comes to Beverly!

Rock legend Michael McDonald comes to Beverly to entertain the crowd at The Cabot.

On Saturday a true rock icon graced the
stage at the Cabot in Beverly Michael McDonald. He played an enjoyable
but bit short show of 90 minutes.

Michael was a member for while in the 70s with the classic Rock Band The Doobie
Brothers and singing on classic like Taking it to the Streets and the
Iconic What A Fool Believes before embarking on a successful solo career
with songs like I Keep Forgetting, Sweet Freedom and On My Own with
Patti Labelle a #1 hit. Recently he had succsss with a series of Motown
covers albums. Also his songs have become appreciated again with the
rise of Yacht Rock music the light rock pop hits of late 70s and early
80s.

The show was a nice mix of solo stuff including some new songs from his new album Wide Open
released just last year. New songs were solid and were received well but
obviously the fans came to hear the voice and the hits.

Glad to report the voice that made McDonald is still intact and the show was
one where you got a sense that the man is still humble and enjoys what
he is doing still. The band he had was talented as well included a
dynamic female backing singer who was prominently featured on a few
songs including a duet of the Labelle Song On My Own.

Not an overly political tone to the show but he included a cover the
classic Marvin Gaye song What's Going On for a bit of his feelings about
the world today. Then ended the show with two Doobie Brothers tracks
everyone knew What A Fool Believes and Taking it to the Streets. It was a
fun night and one that everyone enjoyed.
