Beverly Motorcycle Crash Came After Negligent Driving: Police

A 27-year-old blew a red light on Cabot Street and crashed head-on into a dump truck on Dodge Street, according to police.

BEVERLY, MA — A 27-year-old man who officers had earlier pursued for driving fast and erratically was later injured in a head-on crash with a dump truck Thursday morning on Dodge Street, police said. Police said around 6:20 a.m. the motorcycle was seen going through a red light on Cabot Street, passing vehicles and speeding. Officers attempted to give chase, but canceled it due to risk.

Soon after, the motorcycle crossed lanes into oncoming traffic and crashed into the dump truck, which was stopped at a red light near Conant Street.

The driver, whose identity has not been made public, was brought to Beverly Hospital and later to Lahey Hospital in Burlington. His condition is unknown, police said.
