Rugby Tournament to Raise Funds for Victims of Marathon Bombings

The North Shore Rugby Football Club will be holding a fundraising tournament at Hurd Stadium in Beverly.

Beverly will be hosting a large sporting event and fundraiser that will ultimately honor those affected by the Marathon Bombings. On June 8, Hurd Stadium in Beverly will host a rugby tournament held by the North Shore Rugby Football Club.

In conjunction with Salem Five Bank and the City of Salem, the match is being held to benefit the family of Martin Richard, the 8-year-old boy killed in the Boston Marathon bombings. Martin Richard's father graduated from Salem High School in 1988.

“We are grateful to the city of Beverly for supporting an event that allows us to raise funds for such a meaningful cause while playing the sport we love in a topnotch facility like Hurd Stadium,” said Zachary Cook, NSRFC President. “Our club has called the North Shore home for more than 10 years, but we’ve never had an event that has made us feel as much of a part of the community quite like this.”
