Salem Woman Arrested, Charged With A&B On Police Officer, Resisting Arrest
The officer was not injured during the altercation
BEVERLY –  A 41-year-old Salem woman is facing two counts of carrying a weapon, assault and battery on a police officer, and resisting arrest.
Stephanie Mertsiotis was observed by a police officer sleeping on a wall in Inner City Park at 1:55am Monday morning, a police spokesman said. Officers performed a well-being check on the woman and found she was carrying two knives.
Officers placed Mertsiotis under arrest on two counts of violating the city's knives ordinance. While being escorted to the car, the spokesman said, Mertsiotis kicked a police officer in the leg. She was charged with resisting arrest and assault and battery on an officer.
