Scanlon: Romney 'Wasn't Connected' As Mass. Governor

Beverly mayor Bill Scanlon weighs in on Mitt Romney.

Beverly Mayor Bill Scanlon, a registered independent voter, has made his opinion of presidential candidate Mitt Romney known, and he's not a fan, according to the Salem News

"He never visited Beverly when I was mayor," Scanlon told the Salem News. "He met with the Mayors Association once, it didn’t go well, and it never happened again.”

Scanlon said he had been invited to participate as a liason between Mass. mayors and the governor's office before his 2003 reelection, but Scanlon declined on the notion that he "had nothing to offer" in terms of massive local aid cuts under Romney.

"I don’t think he was accessible to anyone. I think all the mayors felt he wasn’t very connected," Scanlon said.

In September, Scanlon endorsed Elizabeth Warren for U.S. Senate at the Beverly Depot.
