Several Reports of Stolen Catalytic Converters Around Beverly

The following information was submitted by the Beverly Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the Beverly Police Department activity logs:

Wednesday, March 20

  • At 8:23 p.m. police assisted Beverly Fire Department with a small fire at the porch of the Beverly Golf and Tennis Club. 
  • A computer crime was reported on Cabot Street at 10:13 p.m. Police said the person told them he/she had sent money to Ghana, Africa as part of a scam.
  • A safe was found on the side of the road on Beaver Pond Road at 11:35 a.m.
  • A business on Rantoul Street was reported broken into at 12:05 p.m.
  • A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle on Park Street at 12:06 p.m.
  • Police observed a small child in a vehicle without a car seat at 3:15 p.m. A third person came to the scene to give the person with the child the car seat. Police ensured the car seat was safely positioned, and because the officer did not observe the person driving before without a car seat, they were allowed to continue on their way.
  • A gas run-off was reported on Cabot Street at 3:34 p.m.
  • A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle on Conant Street at 4:48 p.m.
  • A woman reported accidentally hitting a deer with her vehicle on Hale Street at 8:37 p.m.
  • A loud argument was reported on Simon Street at 10 p.m. Police arrested Patricia Moscillo, 52, of 11 Simon St. was arrested on charges of assault and battery. 
  • Police were called to Webster St. on report of two suspicious men behind a house at 9:13 a.m. Police discovered the two men were from a company that was surveying property lines. 
  • A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle on Oak Street at 10:17 a.m.
  • A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle on Elliott Street at 2:36 p.m.

  • A neighbor dispute on School Street was reported at 4:40 p.m. 
  • Police were made aware of a possible assault in the area of Washington Street at 8:20 p.m. Reports stated a male possible struck a female and gave her "an ultimatum of 'you have three days.'" Police searched the area, but were not able to locate those in question.
  • A stolen vehicle was recovered on Chapman Street at 10:10 p.m.
  • A home invasion was reported on Cabot Street at 10:18 p.m. 

Friday, March 22

  • A woman accidentally locked herself out of her home on Summit Avenue with her child inside at 9:11 a.m. Reports said she had accidentally locked herself out when trying to let the plumber in. Beverly Fire Department assisted in helping her get back inside; the child was reported to be fine.
