Sign Up For EZPass This Thursday in Beverly
The EZPass Street Team will be at Beverly City Hall this Thursday.
The state's Department of Transportation and Beverly elected officials, Rep. Jerry Parisella and Sen. Joan Lovely, have scheduled an upcoming E-ZPass sign-up session ahead of the transition to All Electronic Tolling on the Tobin Bridge.
The E-ZPass Street Team will be enrolling new customers in the E-ZPass program Thursday at Beverly City Hall from 5 to 7 p.m.
Those attending the sign-up should bring their registration (license plate numbers) for the vehicles they would like to equip with the free transponders, as well as a credit card, check or cash to add value to their new account.
Beginning in the summer of 2014, motorists will no longer have the option to stop at a toll booth and pay cash for their Tobin Bridge toll. Tolls will be collected electronically in one of two ways: either through the motorist’s E-ZPass transponder or via a program in which a camera captures the license plate and the vehicle’s registered owner is billed by mail. E-ZPass is free to join and customers receive a transponder onsite.
“I appreciate the DOT coming to Beverly to provide this valuable service. Soon the state will be going to all-electronic tolling so it will benefit travelers to obtain the EZ-Pass, which can be used from Maine to North Carolina and west to Illinois,” said Parisella.
In addition to these sign up sessions, motorists may also join E-ZPass online, Mass.gov/EZPassMA or by phone, 877-627-7745. An E-ZPass Customer Service Center is open at the Square One Mall in Saugus on Route 1 South.
