Skunk Intruder, Mystery Inhaler: Beverly Police Log

Someone tries to find the source of bats, officers respond to a report of a man stealing mulch, and more from the Beverly Police logs.

  • Someone reported a smell of gas last Wednesday afternoon in the area of Kernwood Avenue and Upland Road. Authorities couldn't locate the smell.
  • Police responded to a report of a someone possibly intruding upstairs in a Hillcrest Avenue home last Thursday around 9:30 p.m. Officers found a large skunk outside, trying to get into the trash.
  • Officers responded to a report of kids on the roof on Echo Avenue last Thursday around 10 p.m. Police didn't find any kids of any roofs.
  • Police responded to a report of a drunk man banging on an Elliott Street door last Friday around 7:30 p.m. The man had left before officers got to the scene.
  • Officers responded to a report of a loud bang in the area of Lothrop Street on Saturday around 2 a.m. Police searched the area but couldn't find anyone.
  • Wesley Austin Charette, 23, of Salem, was arrested on charges of drunken driving, driving with a suspended license, and reckless driving on Sunday around 3:30 p.m. after police responded to a report of a possible hit and run on Hale Street.
  • Police took a report of a man putting mulch in a bag on Cabot Street on Sunday around midnight. Officers found that nothing appeared stolen.
  • Officers responded to a report of a car vandalized by an ex girlfriend by the Cummings Center on Monday around 8 a.m.
  • Someone reported finding bones while digging in a Chase Street yard on Monday around 5:30 p.m.
  • Police responded to a report of a couple with binoculars looking in windows on Prospect Street last Monday around 7:30 p.m. Officers found the person had bats in their home, and was trying to find the source.
  • A car was entered on Mason Street, as discovered on Tuesday around 6:30 a.m. Nothing appeared to have been taken, but an inhaler with no label was left behind.
  • Officers responded to a report of a disturbance on Rantoul Street after one child gave another child a wedgie on Tuesday around 5 p.m.
