Slippery Commute Causes Minor Bus Accident

The following is an excerpt from the Beverly Police Department:

Monday, Jan. 14

  • Police were called to Judson Street at 1:19 a.m. on report of a patron who would not leave the bar. An ambulance was called.
  • At 2:41 a.m. police were called to Railroad Avenue for an argument. Police arrested Danilo Diroche, 23, of 341 Summer St. in Lynn, on charges of assault and battery and assault to murder.
  • At 3:29 a.m. police were called to Rantoul Street on report of a woman screaming for 911. Police were unable to locate anyone in distress.
  • At 6:29 a.m. police were called to Balch Street on report of loud music. Police asked them to quiet down.
  • A man causing problems at Hess on Cabot Street was reported to police at 3:36 p.m. 
  • A fight on a Grant Street front porch was reported at 3:58 p.m.
  • At 6:17 p.m. police arrested Timothy Shepard, 32, of 6 Morgan Rd., on assault and battery and warrant charges.
  • Police were called to Cabot Street at 8:15 p.m. on report of a man in the middle of the street. Police spoke to him, and he told them he was trying to sweep up a large mirror that had broken in the road.
  • A shoplifter was reported at CVS at 9:42 p.m.

Tuesday, Jan. 15

  • Police were called to Tozer Road on report of a suspicious man trying to enter a building at 6:38 a.m. A woman when she was walking to work an unknown man started following her and when she asked what he was doing he said he was at the building for a health screening. She told him she could not let him in, and police said he was gone when they arrived.
  • Police were called to Stop and Shop at 12:59 p.m. on report of a shoplifter. A summons to court was issued.
  • At 4:54 p.m. police were called to Wirling Drive on report of solicitors in the area.
  • Police were called to Odell Avenue at 9:45 p.m. on report of suspicious activity. Police reports stated a woman told police that that morning, her daughter had come out of the shower to discover the front door partially open, when she thought it had been shut. She also found a window unlocked. Police said nothing was disturbed or taken, and there was no proof anyone had entered the home.

Wednesday, Jan. 16

  • At 6:25 a.m. a vehicle slid off the road due to snow on Woodland Avenue into a fence on Greene Street.
  • A school bus accident was reported at 6:55 a.m. at the Dodge and Laurel Street intersection. Students were reported on the bus when the incident happened, but scanner reports indicated none were injured.
  • A vehicle slid into a pole on Harrison Avenue at 8:01 a.m.
  • An individual reportedly made threatening remarks to Beverly Hospital staff at 11:07 a.m.
