Generally, the Department of Public Services Director will call a "snow emergency" when excessive amounts of snow are predicted. All vehicles are required to be removed from all roadways to allow for a better clearing job. All vehicles left on the road are subject to tow.

But there are municipal lots available for you to park during a snow emergency parking ban. (Click Here For Map)

  • Franklin Place and Washington Street (between the two streets)
  • Pond Street (behind Casa Da Moda)
  • Pond Street (at American Legion/Spear Post)
  • Briscoe St/Hale St (across from Central Fire Station)
  • Congress Street and Summit Avenue (public lot)
  • Chapman Street and Federal Street (behind Family Dollar)
  • MBTA Parking Garage on Rantoul Street (reduced rate during parking ban)

The Beverly Department of Public Services maintains the community’s 161 miles of roads. During the winter
months, this includes salting, sanding and plowing. During a typical Beverly winter, the city uses about 4,000 tons of salt and sand.

Although the majority of snowplowing and snow removal work is performed by the DPS, the Department also
utilizes the services of local contractors to complement the City’s fleet of 29 trucks, according to the city.
