Staggering Man Tells Police He Drank Bottle of Vanilla Extract

The following is an excerpt from the Beverly Police log:

Wednesday, Nov. 14

  •  Police were called to Beckford Street at 10:57 p.m. on report of a woman and man screaming at each other. 
  • Police were called to the Beverly Public Library on report of a man talking loudly and banging on a table at 12:41 p.m. He was transported to the hospital. 
  • A home was reported broken into on Access Road at 2:12 p.m., which resulted in the arrest of two men. Police arrested Ruben Contreas, 33, of 284 Maple St. in Lynn, on charges of breaking and entering in the daytime for felony, operating with a revoked license, receiving stolen property, possession of a class b drug, and possession with intent to distribute. Angel Millan, 36, of 37 Lynn St. in Peabody, was arrested on charges of breaking and entering in the daytime for felony, receiving stolen property, and possession of a class c drug.
  • A vehicle was reported vandalized on Pierce Avenue at 9:55 p.m.
  • At 11:04 p.m. police arrested Francisco Diaz, 22, of 199 Chestnut St. in Chelsea, on charges of threatening to commit a crime, destruction of property, and a warrant charge.

  • Two suspicious men were reported at 5:39 a.m. in the Nursery Street/Andover Road area. 
  • Police were called to South Hardy Street at 9:02 a.m. on report of neighbors arguing over a fence. Police restored peace.
  • At 2:40 p.m. police arrested Lisa Charette, 50, of 640 Essex St., following a vehicle accident on Essex Street. Charette was arrested on charges of operating under the influence of liquor, marked lanes violations, and negligent operation of a vehicle.
  • Police were called to Beckford Street on report of a dog that had scratched a vehicle at 5:09 p.m.
  • Two woman were reported arguing at the Beverly Public Library over their computer reservations at 5:10 p.m. Police advised them to keep to themselves or leave.

Friday, Nov. 16

  • A vehicle was reported broken into on Grover Street at 8:14 a.m.
  • A neighbor dispute was reported on Beach Street at 10:06 a.m. Police reports state the dispute was because one neighbor had dumped yard waste on the other's lawn. The neighbor said he would have it removed.
  • A disturbance was reported at a Cabot Street mechanic at 1:17 p.m. The customer was upset because his vehicle did not pass its inspection. The customer left prior to police arrival.
  • Police located a male staggering on Cabot Street at 3:04 p.m. He told police he had drank an entire bottle of vanilla extract, and nothing else. The bottle was found on him. Police said he was severely disoriented, and subsequently was transported to Beverly Hospital.
