STEVE SWEENEY SHOWCASES AT THE CABOT IN HIS UNIQUE WAY!

Steve Sweeney brings his comedy style to Beverly at the Historic Cabot Street Center for Performing Arts

On a day when Comedy was the hit in historic downtown Beverly and when just earlier in the day The Salem News posted a story about two theatres competing in one town. The Cabot was able to pack the house for a night of comedy at the same time that The Larcom packed the house for their comedy show. Last Saturday at the historic Cabot Center for Performing Arts Boston legendary comedian Steve Sweeney took to the stage in front of a very large crowd. Born in Charlestown, Steve Sweeney is a legendary Boston comedian known as a master of dialects and character voices. With his famous Boston accent and great insight into human nature, Steve is so thoroughly Bostonian that he merits his own stop on the MBTA Green Line.

The night opened up with two great warm-up acts who were able to get the crowd ready for the big man himself. Now let me just warn you Steve’s comedy is so unique you won’t see anything else like it anywhere. His stories and show are something that can be described as witty and weird but also you will find others in the crowd that will describe it as hilarious and funny. Some folks in the crowd were a little thrown off by his style as one woman said “This show wasn’t something I expected” in terms of the delivery style of the comedy when Steve started taking his shirt off. While another woman was overheard saying “Steve is as funny now as when I saw him years ago”. All in all if you’re a fan of Steve’s this show didn’t disappoint but at the same time before you go to see Steve’s style you may want to look up some videos on YouTube so that your not confused as some folks were in the crowd which really made the night a let down for them.

The Cabot Center for Performing Arts has an amazing line-up of shows coming down the line this summer with shows like Symphony by the Sea on June 20th, 2015 and Local Rock Rules coming on June 27th, 2015. So be sure to checkout some of the upcoming shows at The Cabot by visiting www.TheCabot.org for more information.
