BEVERLY, MA — Summer events are coming back to Beverly this summer.

As Beverly Mayor Mike Cahill on Thursday urged residents to follow remaining coronavirus-related protocols throughout the spring and into the summer as long as they last — as well as to remain respectful to others observing stricter virus protocols as they ease in other areas — he said the city is planning a return of concerts and events this summer.

"We are scheduling Sunday evening concerts at Lynch Park and Thursday evening concerts on the Beverly Common," Cahill said in a message to the community. "Beverly's volunteer Homecoming Committee is working to bring back a streamlined version of Homecoming during the first week of August, the Cabot and Historic Beverly plan to partner again for their porch sessions at Hale Farm, and other local groups are exploring how to bring safe summer fun back to Beverly."

Cahill is also urging all eligible residents to get vaccinated against the coronavirus who have yet to do so. Beverly is one of 10 North Shore cities and towns to join the North Shore Coalition for a Safe Summer campaign launched this week, while Cahill noted vaccinations are available at the city's two CVS locations, the mass vaccination site at the Danvers DoubleTree Hotel, the regional Lynn Tech High School site.

The state this week also approved another regional collaborative site at Salem State University.

"As soon as we receive vaccine doses from the state, we will notify you and put an appointment link for this site on our website," Cahill said of the Salem State location.

While masks are no longer required outdoors in the state, they are still required in crowded settings where social distancing is not guaranteed, as well as all organized outdoor public events, including high school sports contests. Masks are also still required indoors in businesses except for when eating and drinking.

"During this time when some people are and others are not yet fully vaccinated, I ask that we all continue to be thoughtful and respectful of each other as these changes take effect and as we all continue to make our way through — and hopefully soon — out of this pandemic," Cahill said.
