Three Things To Do In Beverly This Week

The Beverly Crossfit Competition, Night of the Reptiles, and Annual Plant Sale and Auction are coming up.

With summer in the air, there are some fun and exciting things to do around Beverly this upcoming week.

The Beverly Crossfit Competition will be held on Sunday, May 22 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the American Legion Spear Post at 3 Judson St. in Beverly. The first annual four-person team Combined Crossfit and Legion five-mile endurance course will help raise funds that will benefit the Boston Children’s Hospital. There will also be a blood drive to benefit the Boston Children’s Hospital. There will be refreshments on hand for non-competitors. The Night of Reptiles Fundraiser will be held on Sunday, May 22 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Italian Community Center at 302 Rantoul St. in Beverly. This family friendly event features a dinner, live animal demonstrations, children’s activities, door prizes, a silent auction, and real-life reptile encounters. Some of the reptiles in attendance may be Fred, a six-foot Alligator, or Venus, 20-foot-long snake. Don’t forget to bring a camera. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children; all kids under 2 can attend for free. For tickets and information, call 978-922-5107.

The North Shore Horticultural Society’s Annual Plant Sale and Auction will take place on Tuesday, May 24 at 6 p.m. at American Legion Hall at 14 Church St. in Manchester. The plant sale will begin at 6 p.m. and the auction will begin at 7 p.m. Manchester native Fred Rice will once again appear as the auctioneer. There will be perennials, annuals, trees, and shrubs available, as well as pots, tools, and garden structures. The plant sale will also feature a wide variety of indoor plants. Plant trays and plastic bags will be provided. Cash and checks will be accepted, but credit cards will not. The event is free to the public. Refreshments will be available for all in attendance.
