Urvi Morrison Named New School Director at Waldorf School

CEO from Washington, D.C., brings background in innovation, education, and educational technology to Waldorf School

Waldorf School at Moraine Farm has announced that Urvi Morrison has been hired as the new School Director. Urvi comes to the Waldorf School at Moraine Farm in Beverly from Washington, D.C., where she was the CEO and Founder of Strategic EdTech, a company providing services and leadership to institutions responsibly developing their educational technology. She also served as President and Founder of SET Lab, a nonprofit 501c3 organization fostering the next evolution of educators.

As School Director, Urvi will ensure that the school stays true to its mission to deliver a high-quality Waldorf education to its students, while she simultaneously pursues a sustainable strategic direction; achieves and maintains the school’s financial health and stability; and implements priorities and policies set by the board. Ms. Morrison will provide leadership to the school as a whole, supervising and guiding the work of all administrative staff, partnering closely with faculty leadership, and supporting the faculty in its work with students.

The four-month long selection process of choosing a new School Director was deeply collaborative, with participation from faculty, staff, current parents, alumni parents, alumni, board representatives, and external community members.

In the 2019/2020 academic year, the school was co-led by Theresa Riddle, Board Chair, and Heather Collis Puro, Interim Faculty Director and faculty member.

“In addition to her incredible leadership skills, Urvi brings a light and energy to our school that inspires us all, “ said Deann Reyes-Wangh, faculty member and search committee co-chair. “Her passion for innovation and respect for Waldorf education will serve our students, our families, and our faculty and staff at a critical time in our growth. We are fortunate to have someone of Urvi’s caliber leading our school into the new academic year and beyond.”

Waldorf School at Moraine Farm is one of 121 Waldorf schools in the United States and nearly 1,000 Waldorf schools worldwide. Waldorf School at Moraine Farm is an independent, non-profit school founded in 1986. The school is located on ten acres of the historic Moraine Farm property in Beverly. It serves approximately 100 students from pre-kindergarten through middle school, as well as homeschooling families. The school has an open enrollment admissions process.
