Project S.N.A.P. Walkathon Raises Awareness About Special Needs

Project S.N.A.P. (Special Needs Assistance Program) held a walkathon to raise awareness about special needs at the CHS Memorial Field

CANTON, Mass.- On a brisk, fall, Sunday morning, Project SNAP (Special Needs Assistance Program) held a walkathon to raise awareness about special education students at the CHS Memorial Field for all Canton residents to attend. To commence the event, members of project SNAP introduced their project. Pranav Addanki, 6th grade member of Project SNAP, talked about the project goals and about the importance of increasing resources for special needs students and involving them in everyday activities. Disha Nayak, 7th grade, explained statistics about the learning disabilities and special education services. Ethan Tran, 6th grade, spoke about the importance of assisting students with disabilities how all the students could benefit in the process. Other members of the team talked about the challenges they identified and their proposed solutions on how to overcome them.

Many members of the community participated in the walkathon to show their support for one of the most pressing causes in society today, including selectman Thomas W. Theodore. Shortly afterwards, the walkathon began, with more than eighty people participating in the event. Everyone walked, jogged, or ran at their own pace for about 45 minutes. Later, Project SNAP held a raffle with prizes such as Bulldog shirts, hats, and gift cards generously donated by the Canton Fire and Recreation departments. Selectmen Thomas Theodore presented the prizes to the winners of the raffle.
