Back-To-School In Falmouth: 5 Things To Know
The coronavirus pandemic has forced a radically different start to the school year. Here are five things to expect.
FALMOUTH, MA — Falmouth students will begin the school year learning either in-person or as part of a hybrid model depending on age. Here are five things to keep in mind as students begin classes next week:
1. When is the first day of school? School will start Monday, Sept. 21. This first week of school will be fully remote for all grade levels. The next two weeks of school will transition to hybrid learning with half days, where reduced numbers of students will attend class in person. Students are expected to resume full daily schedules, regardless of their selected mode of learning, on Oct. 13.
2. What will school look like on Oct. 13 and going forward

Under the re-opening plan, prekindergarten through fourth grade students will attend school fully in-person while grades 5-12 will be placed into cohorts and learn on a hybrid platform. For the older grades, half the students will report to school for a week, while the other cohort learns remotely. The cohorts will switch off each week.
3. What will be expected of students during remote learning? Students are expected to treat online classes as if they are in a classroom. Parents with questions can attend a virtual family forum at 6 p.m. on Sept. 23.
