Happy Mother’s Day From Julianne Dowd

In celebration of Mother's Day on Sunday May 13, we asked Patch readers to write a letter to their mother and let us deliver it. This is Julianne Dowd's letter to her mom:

Hi Mom,

Happy Mothers Day. This photo was taken 40 years ago in Nantucket. Wow. Thank you, Mom, for your never ending love for me and my children. There is no love like a mother’s love, and now being a mom I understand that. It isn't that easy to put into words how much you have done for me.

For starters, your love for me began before you ever held me. Your courage to have a family — even one that wasn’t like all others — is the ultimate gift you have given me.

Thank you for holding my hand then and now. Thank you for the countless hours you have spent caring for my father and our family unselfishly, tirelessly and unconditionally. Thank you for your gentle nature, scrabble skills and love of the beach. There is so much to say, but I couldn’t possibly describe you better than my children or I can love you. Hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day.
