About A Third Of Falmouth Residents Got At Least 1 Vaccine Dose

The state's plan to prioritize the most vulnerable residents is showing in Falmouth, where seniors have received the most vaccinations.

FALMOUTH, MA — About a third of Falmouth's nearly 31,200 residents have received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine, according to new state data released Thursday.

The state's vaccine rollout prioritizing the most vulnerable residents is bearing fruit in Falmouth, where those 75 or older have received the most vaccinations despite making up just 15 percent of the town's population. Eighty-two percent of those 75+ have received at least one dose, while 42 percent of them are fully vaccinated.

Fifty-nine percent of those 65-74 have received at least one dose while 10 percent are fully vaccinated. That group only makes up 13 percent of all the fully vaccinated people in Falmouth, a number outpaced by the 30-49 and 50-64 age groups.

The Department of Public Health also released town-by-town coronavirus metrics, which showed continued improvement in Falmouth.

The positive test rate fell from 2.47 percent to 2.3 percent, while the average daily incidence rate per 100,000 was 12.8

There were 56 confirmed cases in the past two weeks, bringing the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic to 1,222.
