$10,000 Grant for Framingham High's Resiliency For Life Program

The MutualOne Charitable Foundation awarded the grant.

FRAMINGHAM, MA - Resiliency for Life, a successful drop-out prevention program at Framingham High School, was awarded a $10,000 grant from the MutualOne Charitable Foundation.

Announcement of the grant was made by Steven M. Sousa, executive vice president and chief operating officer of MutualOne Bank and a Foundation trustee.

Resiliency for Life Executive Director Jug Chokshi said the program’s strategies include intense academic monitoring, advocacy with teachers and administrators, strict program rules and clear expectations, development of personal responsibility, and prep classes for the MCAS and SAT tests.

In the last three years, every single Resiliency for Life student has graduated, and graduated on time.

Last year, Resiliency for Life launched a middle school program at the Cameron, with the goal of serving all three Framingham middle schools within 3 years.

“This program has an excellent track record of keeping students who are at academic risk from dropping out of school and failing to graduate,” said Sousa. “MutualOne is pleased to support the goals and values of Resiliency for Life, realizing the significant positive impact this program can have on the future of our community.”

The grant to the Resiliency for Life was among awards totaling $82,000 in the Foundation’s most recent round of funding.

Since it was established in 1998, the MutualOne Charitable Foundation has donated over $3.2 million to charitable, educational, and civic initiatives that improve and enrich the quality of life in Framingham, Natick, and surrounding communities.

MutualOne Bank, which operates under an 1889 state charter, has full-service offices at 828 Concord Street and One Lincoln Street in Framingham and at 49 Main Street in Natick, a Commercial Loan Center at 160 Cochituate Road in Framingham, and a Residential Loan Center at 49 Main Street in Natick.
