It's Back: Mass Pike Bridge Replacement Project Starts Friday
Acceler-8 took the July 4 weekend off. Lanes along I-90 will shift Friday night, and local roads in Southborough and Westborough will close.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — It's a good weekend to stay home — not only because of the dreary weather, but because the Acceler-8 Mass Pike bridge replacement project is set to return.
Beginning Friday evening, MassDOT will squeeze the freeway down to four lanes. Two lanes of westbound traffic will move onto the eastbound side of the freeway. Eastbound traffic will shift into the right two lanes. That configuration will remain in place until about 5 a.m. Monday.
Local streets will also be affected. Parkerville Road in Southborough and Flanders Road in Westborough will both be closed all weekend. Traffic will detour via either Southville Road or Route 9.

However, the work is weather-dependent. If MassDOT can't start work due to tropical storm Elsa, the project will be postponed until the weekend of July 16.
The Acceler-8 project is supposed to wrap up by the weekend of Aug. 16. Learn more about the project on the MassDOT website.
