2 Framingham School Committee Candidates Already Certified
Framingham candidates have until July 15 to return nomination papers, but two School Committee candidates are ahead of everyone else.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Just 15 days into election nominating season in Framingham, two School Committee candidates have finished gathering signatures.
Incumbent District 9 School Committee member William LaBarge returned his signatures on June 14, and District 2 member Ricky Finlay, who was appointed to the seat earlier in 2021, returned his on June 10. The City Clerk has certified the signatures they gathered, ensuring they'll be on the ballot in 2021.
More than 30 incumbents and challengers so far have pulled nominating papers since June 1 to run in the 2021 Framingham races, which includes mayor, City Council (except the at-large seats), School Committee, Library Trustees and Cemetery Trustees.

Citywide, only the mayoral race and the District 2, 3, 7 and 9 Council races are competitive so far. Candidates have until July 15 to return nominating papers and get certified to appear on the ballot. The 2021 election will take place on Nov. 2, and primary elections will take place on Sept. 14 — so far the mayoral race is the only one with enough candidates to trigger a primary.
Candidates only need to collect 50 signatures from their district to appear on the ballot, except the mayoral candidates, who must collect 500 signatures.
