2 Framingham Schools, 6% of Framingham Lost Electricity Tuesday
Businesses and neighborhoods, along Route 30, experienced a 3-hour power outage Tuesday morning, including BLOCKS and McAuliffe Charter.

Two Framingham Schools were without power Tuesday morning for a couple of hours.
At the height of the power outage, more than 1,600 customers were without power including BLOCKS Preschool on Juniper Hill and portions of the Christa McAuliffe Charter School on Newbury Street.

BLOCKS had no heat when the power went out, but operated on a generator, according to staff members who contacted Patch.
At McAuliffe, an email went out to parents about 9:15 a.m. informing them that “some areas of the school are unaffected while others remain down. Our emergency communication system is functioning properly, however.”

At McAuliffe, the modular units had power, but some part of the school did not. The school’s wi-fi was down during the power outage.
The power outage also knocked out the traffic signals along Route 30, during the morning commute, including the busy intersection of Route 30 and Route 126. Framingham Police sent cruisers to help with the traffic issues.
Eversource was first notified of the power outage around 8:15 a.m., said spokesperson Michael Durand.
He said the issue was a “damaged piece of equipment” on Speen Street.
“It took us a while to find the damaged equipment. We had to patrol the area to find it and then re-route the power,” said Durand.
All power was restored shortly before noon.
