2017 Team Framingham Boston Marathon Fundraising Has Begun
All 22 Team Framingham 2017 team runners have now set up their fundraising web-pages on Crowdrise or First Giving. Here's how to give.

Press release: Team Framingham 2017 Steering Committee Chair Mike Bower today announced that the 2017 Team Framingham Boston Marathon fundraising has begun.
As of Tuesday January 17, all 22 Team Framingham 2017 team runners have set up their fundraising web-pages on Crowdrise or First Giving with several runners already well under way in their fundraising.
The six organizations selected by the Board of Selectmen and Chief of Police to benefit from the 2017 Team Framingham fundraising and the number of runners fundraising on their behalf are as follows:

- Framingham High School Foundation (3 runners)
- Framingham History Center (2 runners)
- Friends of the Callahan Senior Center (6 runners)
- Hoops and Homework (4 runners)
- Resiliency for Life (4 runners)
- Voices Against Violence (3 runners)
The lucky runners selected by random selection on December 5th are expected to raise a minimum of $1,500 for one of these six organizations, with a fundraising target of $3,000.
“In their early fundraising efforts, Team Framingham 2017 runners have raised $9,411 bringing us to a four-year total of $195,885.99 benefiting a diverse group of important local charities,” Bower stated and went on to add “I am confident we are well positioned to top the $250,000 mark in fundraising by the conclusion of this year’s fundraising in May."

The team has a number of upcoming events that will help them to prepare for the April 17, 2017 Boston Marathon:
- Saturday January 21 – The second team training run will start at the Brae Burn Country Club in Newton 8:30 a.m. and will be 6 to 16 miles along the Boston Marathon course toward Brookline and back through the Heartbreak Hills.
- Sunday January 29 – Two optional road races for team runners. A 16 miler in Derry NH and a 15K in Lynn MA.
- Saturday February 11 – The third team training run will start at the Cushing Park at 8:30 a.m. and will be 6 to 16 miles along the Boston Marathon course toward either Hopkinton or Wellesley and back.
- Wednesday February 15 – the third team meeting will be held in the Nevin’s Hall at the Framingham Town Hall starting at 7:00 p.m. Our guest speakers include Doctor Bradley Weiss from Performance Health Center who will speak on marathon training and long run recovery techniques. Nancy Moore from SAVERS Inc. will speak on fundraising opportunities at their Route 30 facility. Fundraising Coach Jon Marshall will discuss additional fundraising techniques. The Greater Framingham Running Club team mentors will be available for a Q&A on training for the Boston Marathon.
Members of the Greater Framingham Running Club and residents and employees of the town of Framingham who are running the April 17th Boston Marathon with a number from another source are welcome to attend team meetings and team training runs. These individuals need to send their name and email address to MarathonBibs@framinghamma.gov so they can be added to our distribution list for emails with information on team meetings and training runs.
