3 Cooling Centers In Framingham Open During Heat Wave
The heat index could rise above 100 this week. Framingham is offering residents a refuge.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Framingham will have three cooling centers open this week as temperatures soar into the 90s — but will feel like much more than that.
Temperatures are set to get into the 90s over the first three days of the week. But adding humidity will make it feel like 100 degrees or more. Tuesday is forecast to be the hottest day with a heat index of about 103 in the area.
The National Weather Service early Monday morning issued a heat advisory for the region that expires Wednesday night. The heat index will be between 98 and 104 until then.

"Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors," the advisory said. "Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances."
Framingham's cooling centers will located at the library branches and the Callahan Senior Center during these times:

- Main Library, 49 Lexington St., 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- McAuliffe Branch, 746 Water St., 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Callahan Center, 535 Union Avenue, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Tuesday 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Friday 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Each facility has air conditioning and the library branches will be giving out bottled water.
On top of the cooling centers, Framingham's three public beaches are now open for the season. The beach at Waushakum Pond was closed as of Monday pending water test samples.
