31st Annual Massachusetts Tomato Contest Thursday

Contest is sponsored by Department of Agricultural Resources, New England Vegetable and Berry Growers Association and Mass Farmers' Market.

The 31st annual Massachusetts Tomato Contest will be held at the KITCHEN at Boston Public Market on THursday, August 20.

The contest is sponsored by the Department of Agricultural Resources (DAR), the New England Vegetable and Berry Growers Association and Mass Farmers’ Markets and is hosted by the Boston Public Market Association and the Trustees of Reservations.

All Massachusetts commercial tomato growers can submit their tomatoes, which will be judged by a panel of food writers, chefs, cookbook authors, produce experts, and state officials, including Assistant Secretary for Environment Daniel Sieger.

At 1 p.m. Agriculture Commissioner John Lebeaux will announce the winners of the contest.
