5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: March 2

Framingham Flyers boys hockey team will host a playoff game tonight at Loring Arena. McAuliffe Charter School lottery today.

1. Yesterday was an election day in Framingham. (Click here for how Framingham voted in the Presidential Primary on March 1.)

And voters will go back to the polls in less than a month. The Town of Framingham local election is Tuesday, March 29. There are races for Selectmen and School Committee. And voters will be asked to vote yes or no to create a Charter Commission to study Framingham's form of government and consider possible changes. If voters say Yes to a Charter Commission, they will also elect 9 Commissioners from 26 candidates. One option the Commission will consider is if Framingham should become a city.

2. Today is National Read Across America Day.

Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program founded by the National Education Association. It calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, the birthday of beloved children's author Dr. Seuss.

3. It's Flyers vs Wildcats tonight at Loring Arena.

The Framingham High boys hockey team starts its post-season play tonight as they host a MIAA Division 1 South playoff game at 7:30 p.m. The Flyers were 14-3-5 this season under Head Coach Paul Spear. Go Flyers!

4. Tonight is the annual admissions lottery for the Christa McAuliffe Charter School. The public charter school based in Framingham said it has double the applications for the 140 sixth grade spots. Click here to learn about how the lottery works. The lottery begins at 6 p.m. at the school's Newbury Street campus.
