5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: March 3

Flyers basketball in playoffs for first time 8 years. Bus fire closes Mass Pike. Shoppers World could be losing a store. State Street crash.

1. For the first time in 8 years, the Framingham High boys basketball team qualified for the post-season, The #7-seeded Flyers, with a record of 10-10, had a bye in the first round, but travel to Worcester tonight for a quarterfinal game in the MIAA Division 1 Central tournament.

The Flyers will battle #2-seeded Holy Name with a record of 15-5.

2. The Mass Pike westbound was closed for 30 minutes in Southborough Wednesday afternoon after a report of a bus fire. Forty-five passengers escaped from the bus unharmed. One lane of Route 90 was closed for 90 minutes. The Massachusetts State Police said late last night it is investigating. Click here to read more.

The Colorado-based sporting company has 463 stores in 41 states and Puerto Rico. The store closings are expected to take up to three months. It is unknown, at this time, which stores will close. Click here to read more.

Framingham Public Library, as part of its Lifelong Learning Lecture series, presents Lights, Camera, Acting: The History of American Film Acting with Babson College Professor of Film Studies Julie Levinson and Framingham State University Associate Professor of English Claudia Springer tonight at 7 in the Blumer Room at the Memorial Building. The two professors are authors of a book on film.
