The man struck a tree head-on early Sunday morning and needed to be flown to a hospital.

An Ashland man is in critical condition at a Boston hospital after his car struck a tree early Sunday morning in Framingham near the intersection of Salem End and Badger roads.

Police received a call from a driver about a vehicle driving erratically and almost striking another vehicle head-on. The dispatcher told the woman driver to pull over and and to see if she could get the license plate of that other vehicle, said Framingham Police Lt. Stephen Cronin. The woman was able to get the license plate and gave it to police.

Police later found the vehicle, with that license plate, on Badger Road slammed into a tree around 1 a.m. on Sunday, Jan 31.
