FRAMINGHAM, MA — Both spectators and runners had ear to ear smiles during Marathon Monday, passing the six mile mark in Framingham. With music blasting, the crowd cheering and plenty of colorful signs offering passing marathoners motivation — you would've thought you were at the Boylston Street finish line. A rainy start to the day didn't dampen the mood as things warmed up throughout the day and the crowd grew.

"Six miles down, only 20 more to go, you got it!" shouted a DJ between songs from the sidelines. The six mile spot on Framingham's Waverly Street was packed with spectators, some waiting for a friend or loved one who was running and others just enjoying the crowd and marathon energy.

Downtown Framingham Inc. set up a block party of sorts along the route, complete with a juggler, live band, Ben & Jerry's truck and local businesses with tents set up giving out swap to spectators. "We started setting up at 4:30 a.m. today," Courtney Thraen, Executive Director of Downtown Framingham, Inc. said.
