Community Cooks: Recipes for a Reason

Do you have a recipe you love, a crowd favorite or your go-to dish that you are willing to share? Then read on!

The United Way of Tri-County (UWTC) is seeking your favorite recipes for their new cookbook, Community Cooks: Recipes for a Reason.

Net proceeds from this first ever UWTC cookbook will support the organization’s three food pantries and two hot meal programs including the Pearl Street Cupboard and Cafe, serving thousands of individuals and families living in the MetroWest/495 Corridor.

Recipe submissions will be accepted online at www.uwotc.org/cookbook or by mail to United Way of Tri-County, 46 Park Street, Framingham, MA 01702, Attn. Community Cooks through March 25.

Three of the same recipes will be accepted on a first come (submitted) basis, so please be sure to check the recipes list before entering. All recipes must be complete and include the following:

• Name of the recipe
• List of ingredients including quantities and measurements
• Clear instructions
• Total cooking time and temperature
• Number of servings

Recipe categories include:
• Appetizers
• Beverages
• Soups and Salads
• Main Dishes
• Veggies and Sides
• Breads/Rolls
• Desserts
• This and That
• Vegetarian/Vegan

Chefs from local restaurants including Jack’s Abby in Framingham, TJ’s Spirits in Ashland, and many other area eateries are including recipes from their personal collections.

"We're really excited to include our recipe for our House Lager Mussels in Community Cooks: Recipes for a Reason to raise money for United Way. Last year was challenging for many and it is more important to us than ever to support our local community. Participating in a project like this is a fun, and delicious way to do so. Excited for the book to be released!" said, Mo Bentley, General Manager of the Jack's Abby Beer Hall.

All recipes will be carefully compiled, and cookbooks will be available in late spring/early summer of 2021.

Cookbooks will be sold online for $25 at www.uwotc.org/cookbook. Books will also be available at several promotion nights at local restaurants, where cookbooks can be purchased at a discount of $20.
