UPDATED: Downed Trees, Wires, and Commute Headaches After Storm

The storm that rolled through MetroWest Thursday morning woke several up with thunder and lightning, but left others with huge problems.

The storm that rolled through MetroWest Thursday morning with thunder and lightning that woke up some in the middle of the night, left others with huge problems by day break.

There were road closures in MetroWest, Framingham, and especially Natick this morning for the commute.

Just after 5 a.m., Framingham Patch reported about Route 9 closed in both directions due to a downed wire across all lanes. The road is still closed at Speen Street, near the Natick Mall, as of 8:45 a.m.

Wayland Police reported Oak Street was closed to Route 30 in Natick.

Route 30 was the detour for Route 9, but reports of Route 126, Hartford Streets and Route 30 with tie-up all morning long.

Several streets are reporting downed wires and trees in Framingham, including the one pictured near Framingham High, on Campello.

There were reports of 50 miles per hour wind gusts with the storm, that brought less than a half inch of rain.

At 8 a.m., Framingham-based MEMA was reporting more than 19,000 without power.

Reports of about 1.5 inches fell in the last 24 hours.
