E. Coli Will Keep Framingham Beaches Closed On Opening Day
Only one Framingham beach will open Thursday due to the bacteria threat.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Framingham's three freshwater beaches opened for the season Thursday, but two will remain closed to swimming due to high levels of E. coli bacteria in the water.
The Framingham beaches at Waushakum Pond, Saxonville Beach on Lake Cochituate and at Learned Pond will be open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through Aug. 12. A lifeguard shortage may mean shortened hours, however.
As of Thursday, the Waushakum and Saxonville beaches were only open for sunbathing due to bacterial contamination. The city's health department tests water at swimming beaches regularly, and you can see the results on the city website.
