FBI Nabs NH Man In Framingham After Armed Robberies

FRAMINGHAM, MA — FBI agents on Wednesday arrested a 32-year-old New Hampshire man in Framingham following a string of armed robberies, according to federal officials.

Federal prosecutors say Hector Rivera Ayala, 32, of Manchester, NH, robbed four gas stations in that city between Dec. 2 and Dec. 21, 2019. Prosecutors also say Ayala also robbed a bank on Dec. 21, 2019, and walked away with more than $160,000.

According to court documents, Ayala used a revolver and sometimes a shotgun during the robberies. During one robbery on Dec. 18, 2019, he also forced a gas station customer to take out $200 from an ATM, court records say.

Police were able to identify Ayala as a suspect, according to court records, after extracting a DNA sample from a shawl left at the scene of one of the robberies.

Ayala was arrested on a warrant charging him with bank robbery under the Hobbs Act, which involves interstate commerce.
