Flyers Buck, Fortin Earn Points in Slalom Event

Weather not cooperating for Framingham High Alpine Ski team. Tough conditions Monday night for races 3 and 4.

After four races, the Framingham High alpine ski team is struggling. A combination of poor weather conditions and injuries, have them near the bottom of the standings for both the boys and girls teams.

The Flyers competed in race three and four at Blue Hills on Monday night.

“Tough night for all racers as the snow conditions were not great. The snow was soft and built up deep ruts especially for those racing later in the seed,” said Framingham head coach Roni Sue Bower.

Senior Andrea Buck finished 23rd in race 4 and teammate Allison Fortin finished in 27th place.

“Our racers struggled as they try to gain experience in a Slalom course,” said Bower. “Buck and Fortin pulled it together to be aggressive enough to score points for the girls team.”

“The team is developing and are working together to support and help each other to learn to race and attack the courses,” said Bower.

The team’s next race is Thursday, feb. 4 at Ski Ward in Shrewsbury at 6:30 p.m. It is a Slalom event.

“I’m expecting the conditions to be similar to last night but confident our racers will be more competitive as they grow with experience,” said Bower.
