Flyers Capture Bay State Conference Carey Division Championship
Led by a hat trick by Austan Bellefeuille, the Framingham High boys ice hockey team defeated Wellesley 5-1 Wednesday night.
WELLESLEY, MA - Behind a 3-goal night from forward Austan Bellefeuille the Framingham Flyers boys hockey team captured the Bay State Conference Carey Division championship defeating Wellesley 5-1.
After a somewhat sluggish early first period the Flyers began to establish their forecheck and create some good scoring opportunities. Bellefeuille opened the scoring with just :58 second left in the first period. After a face-off to the left of the Wellesley goaltender Bellefeuille picked up a loose puck in the high slot, turned and fired a low wrist shot that found its way thru traffic and to the back of the net to give the Flyers a 1-0 lead. Joey Macinnis assisted on the goal.
In the second period the Flyers had a high number of quality scoring opportunities throughout the frame, but couldn’t expand on their lead until Scottie Swennes netted a goal with 1:37 left in the period. Swennes, who had several great scoring opportunities in the period, went around the defenseman to the right of the Wellesley goalie, walked in and scored. Tyler Anes assisted on the goal.
Carrying a 2-goal lead into the third period the Flyers opened up the game. With 11:51 left in the third period Ben Stefanini took a Joey Macinnis pass in the neutral zone creating a 2-on-1 with linemate Austan Bellefeuille. Stefanini slid a pass to Bellefeuille whose wrist shot beat the Wellesley keeper to give the Flyers a 3-0 lead.

Just 2 minutes later Wellesley made the game 3-1, picking up an errant puck in the middle of the Flyers zone and walking in alone of goaltender Owen Parker. But the Flyers were quick to respond as Jamie Brigham put home a rebound a minute later with assists going to Colton Chassie and Scottie Hall who won 2 puck battles to move the puck to the net where Brigham scored.
With 1:46 left in game the Flyers expanded the lead to 5-1 as Austan Bellefeuille netted a hatrick scoring off a pass from Ben Stefanini from behind the net to Bellefeuille in front of the Wellesley goalkeeper. An assist also going to Joey Macinnis.

Flyers goaltender Owen Parker has a solid night in net, making a number of big saves throughout the night.
The win improves the Flyers to 13-1-4, under head coach Paul Spear.
The Flyers play in a Cahoon Tournament Tuesday against Burlington. Chelmsford and Medford are also playing in the tournament.![]()
