Flyers Defeat T-Hawks; Lose To Panthers
The Framingham High wrestling team is now 7-3 on the season.

The Framingham Flyers Wrestling team had a competitive tri-meet against Algonquin Regional High School and Franklin High School this past Saturday.

The Flyers started off the day against Franklin, a rival sectional team.
They started off by giving up a pin and a major loss at 106 and 113 and were down 10-0.

They quickly turned it around with an outstanding performance by Joe Tolson at 120 to win his match and make the team score 10-3.
This followed by a tough defeat at 126 giving up a pin to make the team score 16-3. Junior Captain Pablo Ogata was able to defeat his opponent at 132 with a major decision and make the team score 16-7. The 138 from Franklin was able to get the best of our Framingham wrestler and won by pin, making the team score 22-7.
Sophomore Adam Levine won his match 3-2 with a reversal in the third period, making the team score 22-10 Franklin with the lead.
Senior Captain Marlen Lamas won a tough match and made the team score 22-13, Franklin still ahead.
Followed were pins at 160 and 170 by Framingham’s Ikaro Monteiro and Dylan O’Brien, giving Framingham the lead over Franklin with team points 22-25. Franklin took it right back by pinning Framingham’s 182 and 195 pound wrestlers, giving them the lead 34-25.
Senior Captain Mike Ramos took a tough loss in the 220 weight class to a returning Heavyweight sectional finalist moving Franklin’ lead to 37-25.
To end the meet, sophomore Trevor Smith had an exciting match coming from behind to pin his opponent in the first period.
Framingham lost to Franklin with a final team scoring of 37-31.
Following Framingham’s battle with Franklin was another battle against the Algonquin T-Hawks.
Algonquin came out strong at the 113 weight class by pinning our wrestler in the second period with a hard cradle. Junior Joe Tolson retaliated at 120 by pinning the Algonquin wrestler with a cradle in the first period, tying the team score 6-6.
Sophomore Willie Brou stayed tough in his match at 126, but was eventually pinned in the first period by state ranked Bryce Finnegan to give Algonquin the lead 12-6.
Junior Captain Pablo Ogata brawled hard against state ranked Drew Cozzolino at the 132 weight class, but suffered a nail-biting 6-5 loss to move Algonquin’s lead to 15-6.
Senior Charles Hall impressively won by a score of 15-0 at the 138 weight class, winning by a tech fall, lessening Algonquin’s lead to 15-12.
Sophomore Adam Levine then tied the team score by beating his opponent 2-0 with a reversal in the third period, making the team scores 15-15.
Senior Captain Marlen Lamas won by tech fall at the 152 weight class putting Framingham in the lead with team points 20-15.
Junior Ikaro Monteiro defeated his opponent at 160 by a major decision widening the Framingham lead to 24-15.
Sophomore Dylan O’brien was able to ride out his opponent to secure his victory in the 170 weight class to move the team score to 27-15.
Following him was Sophomore Jake Gaudet at the 182 weight class pinning his opponent quickly in the first period making the team score 33-15.
Sophomore Robbie Billsten at the 195 weight class pinned his opponent in the first period during his first day back on varsity after a knee injury. Framingham took an even greater lead making the team points 39-15.
Algonquin’s tough upper-weights ended the match with two pins for Algonquin, gaining 12 more team points for Algonquin.
Framingham beat Algonquin with a final team score of 33-27.
Framingham ended their tri-meet with a record of 1-1 with a loss to Franklin and a victory over Algonquin.
The Flyers now have a record of 7-3 as they look to improve as a team in the upcoming weeks before the sectional tournament.
