Flyers Ice Mustangs 5-0

The win improves the the Framingham High boys ice hockey team to 8-1-4 on the season, under Head Coach Paul Spear.

The Framingham Flyers boys ice hockey team topped Norwood 5-0, Friday at Loring Arena in Framingham.

The win improves the Flyers to 8-1-4, and leaves just a couple of points shy of making the state tournament.

The Flyers dominated the first period outshooting the Mustangs 23-0.

The Flyers opened the scoring with 6:43 left in the first period. Joey Macinnis dug the puck out of the Flyers corner in their zone, passing it below the net to Jack LaPlante who turned up ice and passed to Austan Bellefeuille who came down the right wing and wristed a shot past the Norwood goalie.

The Flyers went up 2-0, less than a minute later, when Scottie Hall took a cross-ice pass from Michael Tersoni and beat the Norwood goalie. Jamie Brigham also assisted on the goal.

The Flyers closed out the first period on a Joey Macinnis goal on a 3 on 2 break into the Norwood zone.

Ben Stefanini received a pass from Bellefeuille and took it down the left wing on 3-on-2 rush into the Norwood zone. Stefanini, dished it to Macinnis trailing the play, who beat the Norwood goalie.

With 3:34 left in the second period, freshman Nate Nichols tallied his first career goal.

Scottie Swennes rushed the puck up the right wing, making a pretty deke around the Norwood defenseman, and shot with Nichols crashing the net and putting the rebound behind the Mustang goalie. Tyler Anes assisted on the goal.

The Flyers went up 5-0 in the third period on a power play goal by Christian Seariac. Seariac scored a backdoor goal on a pass by Tyler Anes, with an assist by Scott Swennes.

Dominic Schiappa and Jake Penrod teamed up in net to record the shutout.

Next up for the Flyers is the Rebels of Walpole Wednesday night at Loring Arena. Puck drops at 7.
