In announcing his candidacy, Giombetti said “Framingham is at a very important crossroad. Creating a Charter Commission to study and recommend to voters vital improvements to our current form of government is a must for Framingham’s successful future. I would love to bring my experience and understanding of local and state government, business, and my knowledge of Framingham to the Charter Commission. The charge for the Charter Commission will be to study what would be the best form of government for Framingham in the 21st century and I believe I have the skill set to contribute to that decision”

While Giombetti was not involved in the Framingham First’s signature drive to place the establishment of the Charter Commission question on the March 29 ballot, he does believe in the six basic principles of the Framingham First group.

Giombetti said “I do believe Framingham First has it right when it asserts that Framingham is a great community, our current system is outdated and ineffective, and an open and transparent Charter Commission process matters. I also agree that Framingham needs a strong accountable executive who will have a seat at the table on Beacon Hill as well a need for a responsive, and accountable legislative branch, and, last but certainly not least, a strong municipal-school partnership is critical.“

Giombetti added “it is important to note that within these guiding principles there are several different types of a streamlined government that could be a great fit for Framingham and its future .”

Giombetti is married to the former Ann Bache. They have one child Abbey Bannon who is a first grade public school teacher in Newton. They have two grandchildren, Addison a kindergartener at the Charlotte Dunning School and 5 month old TJ.
