Framingham Breaks 7,000 Coronavirus Cases One Year After Pandemic

FRAMINGHAM, MA — In one year, Framingham went from zero coronavirus cases to over 7,000.

On Wednesday, Framingham reported 26 new coronavirus in city residents since Monday, bringing the city's total over the past 12 months to 7,003. In that year, 230 Framingham residents have died due to the virus.

Framingham reported its first presumptive case on March 11, 2020, when the parent of a Potter Road Elementary School student showed symptoms. Nearly 100 parents, students and school staff were exposed to the virus. March 11 was also the day the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a pandemic.

By March 13, Framingham closed all schools, plus the library and senior center. Only last week did the final group of students return to school buildings for hybrid learning.
