FRAMINGHAM, MA — Framingham's Springdale Beer Co. has entered into an absolutely decadent partnership with a Boston-area boutique doughnut shop to create a new beer set to debut later this fall.

Bakers from Union Square Donuts helped Springdale start the brewing process this week. By mid-October you'll be able to drink the finished product: a malted milk ball porter.

Doughnut beer has been a niche area of the beer world, although it may be going more mainstream.

In late August, Boston's Harpoon brewery and Dunkin' teamed up to release (coming in September) a series of beers brewed with jelly and Boston cream doughnuts. The large West Coast brewer Rogue Ales has been collaborating with the wild Voodoo Doughnut shop for years on beers.

And Union Square has been paired with Framingham beers before.

The baker has hosted several pop-up doughnut events at Jack's Abby this year. Springdale was founded by the Jack's Abby as an experimental barrel-aging brewery about three years ago. The brewer re-branded early in 2020 with a new logo and new brews.
