Framingham In Coronavirus Red Zone Again

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Framingham is back on the list of "high-risk" communities in Massachusetts for coronavirus, according to the state Department of Public Health.

Framingham's new daily cases and the city's overall positive coronavirus test rate have been ticking up in recent weeks. On Wednesday, the city reported 50 new cases, and 101 new cases on Monday.

The state's "high risk" classification applies to communities with a positive test rate higher than 4 percent, and average new daily cases higher than 10 per 100,000. Framingham's positive test rate was 4.03 percent as of April 1, and new daily cases were just under 40 per 100,000 over a two-week period.

Framingham was on the high-risk list for most of the fall and winter, but was taken off on Feb. 12 when cases began to recede.
