Framingham Councilor Robert Case Won't Run In 2021

FRAMINGHAM, MA — District 5 City Councilor Robert Case said Tuesday he won't seek another term in 2021, the second incumbent Councilor to announce plans to step down following the November election.

Case, 44, said he's stepping aside this year due to increased responsibilities at work. He won the District 5 seat in 2019 in a race against former School Committee member Noval Alexander.

"It has been my honor and privilege to serve as the District 5 Councilor on the City Council. Thank you to the residents of District 5 for putting me into office and always supporting me," Case said in a statement Tuesday. "Due to recent developments at my place of employment, I will be taking on more responsibility with my company in the coming months. Between work and family commitments, I would not be able to devote the time needed to fully represent the residents of District 5 for another two years."

Case works as a data analyst at an international asset management firm.

Alexander did pull papers to run for the District 5 spot on June 2, but so far no other candidates have filed to run for the seat.

Case joins District 7 Councilor Margareth Shepard in not seeking another term in 2021, but most other Councilors will be back. Here are the candidates who have pulled papers in the mayoral, City Council and School Committee races as of June 8, according to the City Clerk:
