Framingham Flyers Football Now Has Replays, And Can Be Seen In HD

It's new technology for football games in Framingham.

FRAMINGHAM, MA—They're calling it a new era in Flyer Sports TV, kicking off with a season-opening win last Friday at Bowditch Field.

With the introduction of new production technology, instant replay will now be part of the recorded broadcast, according to an announcement from athletics.

The new technology enhances the overall production and give student crews experience using state of the art equipment. The new equipment includes a portable High Definition (HD) video switcher with graphics, wireless HD camera capability, and 3 channels of HD instant replay and slow motion. Flyer News first used the new HD equipment at Bowditch field this past weekend for the recording of Flyer Football. It will also be used for hockey games at Loring Arena.

Michael Goodman, Framingham Education Channel Station manager, said in the announcement, “Not only is the new equipment feature rich and technically professional, it’s also easier for the students to use. Going wireless frees them up to capture the most compelling images possible without being tethered. They can move and think more freely.”

“This is a game changer for high sports coverage in Framingham,” said Scott Mercer, executive director of Access Framingham TV, in a statement. “Fans really enjoy those instant replay highlights.” He also pointed out that “this technology which helps students learn while also improving the quality of programming, is funded by local cable fees paid by subscribers. Wireless is great in production, but the cable “cord” gives back in many ways and it’s one you don’t want to cut,” he said.
