Framingham High Drama Company Bringing Children's Book To Life Friday

The high school's drama company will stage a benefit performance of Sideways Stories from Wayside School on Friday, Feb. 26.

The Framingham High School Drama Company is bringing the children’s book Sideways Stories from Wayside School to life on the stage this weekend.

Based on Louis Sachar’s beloved children’s books, Sideways Stories from Wayside School is about life at an elementary school 30 stories high where the strangest things can happen. Wicked teachers turn students to apples. Pigtails become snakes.

Tickets are on sale for the Friday night, Feb. 26 benefit performance at Framingham High at 7. Tickets are $10. The show is very family-friendly. Purchase ahead of time at www.showtix4u.com

This less than an hour-long comedic play is also the drama company’s 2016 entry into the Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild Festival. Framingham High will host a preliminary round of the festival on Saturday, Feb. 27. The public is invited to attend that performance too.

There are more than 100 students in the cast and crew of Sideways Stories from Wayside School.

The show is directed by Donna Wresinski and Chris Brindley.

This is Framingham High’s 14th year entering the state’s drama festival competition. In the past 13 years, Framingham has been named a state finalist 10 times, including one state festival win in 2006.
