Framingham High Launches 'Opportunity To Improve' After-School Program

Framingham High is launching a new after-school program, with goal of helping students “catch up on academics in a controlled quiet environment.”

Framingham High Principal Elyse Torbert unveiled the new program in her weekly newsletter to staff, parents, and students on Sunday.

Framingham High history teacher Darrell Braggs will be the coordinator of the Opportunity to Improve program, which will start this week on Tuesday, Jan. 26.

“The Opportunity to Improve ​program is designed to provide consequences for disciplinary, academic, and attendance problems and to encourage proper behavior in the regular high school setting,” explained Braggs, in the newsletter. “Students are welcome to volunteer to participate as an opportunity to work on their academics in a quiet environment. The program is also there to provide resources such as time, space, and tutors to assist with academics.

Students will be supervised at all times by teaching faculty.

Academics will be emphasized with the appropriate resource materials made available.

Students will receive written or verbal notification, when assigned to the program.

The program will take place on Tuesdays from 3 to 4 p.m. at the high school.
