Framingham Hosts Millenials In The Workplace Discussion

FRAMINGHAM, MA - The Town of Framingham’s Division of Community and Economic Development and the Metrowest Chamber of Commerce today hosted an event focused on millennials in the workforce at the Sheraton Framingham Hotel & Conference Center.

Local Framingham leaders, local CEOs, and millennial employees came together to discuss what attracts younger workers to Metrowest employers, the challenges and opportunities they face, and what business and community leaders can do to meet the workforce development needs of the millennial generation a release said.
“Framingham is undergoing some exciting changes, we are excited to welcome more young people and young
families to the region,” said Bob Halpin, Framingham’s Town Manager, in a statement. “We continue to find new ways to support our business community while also giving residents the services, comforts, and conveniences they are looking for in their home town.”
“We are proud to partner with Framingham as we all work to explore continue attracting new businesses and new residents to the Metrowest region,” said Paul Joseph, President and CEO of the Metrowest Chamber of
Commerce, in a statement. “Millennials are an integral part of the workforce and growing community throughout the region and the state, engaging them is essential as we look to the future, and what we envision for the Metrowest region.”
The event featured two panel discussions. Local CEOs including Bob Fields, President of Comm Creative; Heidi Friedman, Senior Director of Human Resources at Boston Heart Diagnostics; and Rebecca Myers, Director of Human Resources at Staples, Inc. spoke about why their companies choose to do business in Framingham, and what they are offering to recruit and engage millennial employees to come to the MetroWest region to live and work, a release said.
Local millennial employees, LeVarr Brewster of South Middlesex Opportunity Council (SMOC); Kristen Halloran of Disruptor Beam; and Priscilla Olicio of Bose Corp. spoke about their experiences working and living in the MetroWest region. They also made recommendations about what other companies can be doing to recruit millennial employees, a release said.
“Framingham has a lot to offer, and events like these allow us to bring businesses, residents and community
leaders together to hear about how we can do even better,” said Mike Gatlin, Chair of Framingham EDIC, in a statemet. “Millennials have a large impact on the business and residential community in which they live, hearing from them today and talking about how we can engage them more is important for Framingham as we look ahead.”
